Poker Players in California Outraged at Commerce Casino
Poker Players in California are considering boycotting Commerce Casino a land based casino that has publicly revealed its support of a federal ban of licensing online poker. A popular casino with the poker crowd, Commerce Casino is the host of many prestigious tournaments like the L.A. Poker Classic and the L.A. Poker open, drawing in hundreds of die hard poker fans to their casino every year.
But now those fans of these tournaments and the casino itself are outraged and angered by the knowledge that Commerce Casino is more interested in their financial interest than they are about their player’s rights.
Commerce Casino has been trying to promote legalizing online poker in California only, making them the main internet provider in California, and would not welcome a legalized market across the United States. Casinos online, as well as many players are all for online gambling being legalized and USA casinos online moving in. The Poker Players Alliance is already considering taking decisive action against Commerce Casino, which is over 1 million members strong. The Executive Director of the PPA, John Pappas said, The PPA and poker players across the United States are outraged that Commerce Casino, the largest poker room in the US would be against the legalization of online poker, which would protect player’s rights to online poker. Players are angry and will be sure to have their voices heard”.
Their first step against Commerce Casino is to have players contact the casino, voice their concerns, and urge the casino to support online poker player’s rights. If this does not work, than a full out boycott could be next. The online poker community as well as land based poker players have been fighting for years to get a regulated online poker industry in the US, and to have one of their own turn their backs on you, especially when they are this close to winning the fight is disheartening. Players should take the time to call Commerce Casino and express their disappointment.
